Yah, Chris got some pics of this linked from his blog, as well. I love the compartments around the edges... now if only it was a digital display under the glass.

(Someday my dream gaming table will exist; my job is to be sure I have the money and space to get it...)

Their goal was to sell 5 at Gen Con, and I believe they did not sell even one, though had plenty of interest from Game Stores looking to use it as a way to attract customers (good idea). I heard the price ranged from 10K-12K.

I give these guys props for their presentation. They were all dressed similarly, and made for a nice visual look with their booth.

Oh, and thanks to David Grey for the plug. :)

They still hadn't sold one by 11h00 Sunday.

Although beauteous beyond measure and a panacea for all my woes, it's a pretty impractical thing, all things considered. And the center of the "drop down" play surface is actually quite hard to reach ... especially with the player's position-cover down in their "tray" mode.

Doug.

I'm a tall guy with long arms and I thought the center drop was to much. Pretending unlimited disposable income, it's not what I'd want. In RPGs that use minis the map and minis are to far away for me to get into the feel of them being there and it would be to hard for me to move them and write notes on the surface.

I don't think it would work for wargaming as you can't place your head on level with your minis to see LOS and get an idea of charge lanes or what ever from that perspective.

Sucks for card and board games because of the deep center drop and I have the long monkey arms.

I have never been in a game that need that many drawers to handle the paper work.

I don't care for how the legs look and that thing is such a huge fucking monster it will dominant any room you put it in and the it's made there is little else you can use it for. Hell, I can get a decent pool table for a whole lot less. I can play pool on it, game and put a table cloth on it and use it as a buffet for parties. I can get a nice filing cabinet and the pool table for less than a grand. The monster they were selling at GenCon was $12,500.

For twelve five I can out fit a whole room in a house decated to gaming.

THough this table is cool and all it is highly impracticle. As most cool things are.

My godmothers father started setting up his workshop last year after he retired. His workbench is a strip of counter top on top of two short filing cabinets. I immediately said if you put another at the back you'd have the ideal gaming surface. It's relatively cheap, quite modular and sturdy as hell. Guess what I'm saving up to do.

I'm a woodworker myself. I do see some issues with the design. Those stringers on the legs, while looking nice with the through tenons, prevent you from pushing a chair in under the table. That makes it a strictly stand up gaming surface. They've got a couple of extended writing surfaces but where do you put the chairs when it is time to pack up for the night? It is reminiscent of the WWII strategic maps where they used tokens to represent troops and a shuffleboard stick to move them about. So the long arm thing is less of an issue (although they should include custom sticks for that price). In this digital age, they really would be better suited with a projected image. Projecting something that large from such a short range (less than three feet) would be prohibitive. However, a piece of frosted glass, with a computer projector pointed up at it from below should work fairly well. You might need a whole array of them to accomplish the task. If you're dumping technology into this thing, you could replace the drawers with small computers to accomplish the same thing.

Shuffleboard sticks for cards, flat cardstock counters, or especially painted miniatures? Seriously? Oh, hell no.

I thought pretty much what Chad did when I saw it. I'd have problems even getting it to my gaming area, let alone using it. Some people really need to learn to balance practicality with features. I have an old dining room table and two filing cabinets in a finished basement where we play and I don't see any reason to downgrade to something like this.
