Woo. Another edition.

This only pushes me more to the Chad side of the fence. No rules. Just say "yes" or "yes, but" and make a good story.

Much quicker cheaper than running an industry into the ground slowly with this constant money-grab.

The only people worse than WOTC when it comes to new editions are textbook companies, and as soon as WOTC can figure out how to close that gap, they will.

Sorry. I just realized how incredibly negative and disparaging I was.

While that is actually how I feel, I probably should've found a more tactful way to say it. In my own defense, I did just watch a five minute clip of Toddlers And Tiaras, and now I hate the world again...

It'll pass. Thanks for bearing with me.

I'll never go that rules light, but 5E certainly isn't on my must buy list. Especially since I doubt any of my gaming groups will want to switch to it.

I feel pretty much the same way you do.

Makes me glad I never bought the 4e material, though.

Edit: Well, it helps to have some game rules, mostly to resolve combat, or difficult/tricky skill checks. Or to decide on how magic/futuristic technology works. But there's a large difference between needing a small set of rules and needing hundreds of $$ of rulebooks.

If they make a good game, I'm in favor of it and will support it. I don't expect they will, though. Still, they seem to be showing some regret about going into 4E territory. If they start noting that the problems first came about in 3rd, I'll get excited.

Looking over some articles on the site turned up this jewel that I felt did a good job of capturing a particular element in the design philosophy of recent editions that I've not enjoyed.

I've only played a little 4e. Some parts of it I like. Other parts, not so much. If they took what I liked in 4e and folded it back into 3e (and fixed thing sin 3e), I might be interested.

...but probably not.

I am surprised that they are looking to make an edition so soon. It doesn't seem like 4e has been out that long. Is it tanking that badly?

Well, regardless of the merits (or lack thereof?) of 4e, there are a lot of people these days with a lot less disposable income...

My response to that article is that if you are going to use minis, then use the minis to their fullest extent. If not, then don't use them at all.
