Put Doc Savage, Tarzan, The Shadow and the other great heroes of the age together. THIS. This is what I want to play. Add Indiana Jones, make it a globetrotting game, and I'm totally there. For extra fun points, add Batman.

 Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Eh. I figure I'll kick it old-school: Empress Himiko, Princess Savitri, Xbalanque and Hunahpu, and of course, Rabbi Yeshua bin Miriam. And they will fucking kick ass. EDIT: Oh, and the villain'd be Caligula.

Wayne wrote: So I've been listening to the RPPR actual play of a modern League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and it got me thinking. If you were going to play in a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen game what Era would you want it in? What limitations would you want? Era: The 1970's. The PCs: The heroes of the game are all dead rock stars, ( Holly, Valens, Hendrix, Joplin, etc.) brought back to life by a secret government experiment, and given super-powers in the process. The enemy: A group of alien parasites from another dimension who have taken control of a group of hippies and are using them to infect more of their kind throughout the human population. Limitation: The heroes are not allowed to kill their possessed opponents. Not so much because they don't want to see some hippies die, but rather because they don't want the bad press of a group of government agents killing US citizens, even if they are just hippies. Weaknesses: The aliens are vulnerable to the sound waves emitted by an electric guitar. The resurrected rockstar heroes all require regular (weekly) injections of a chemical compound owned by the government agency responsible for overseeing them. Working title: Rockstars and aliens.

 Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
In a modern sense, I would be tempted by the characters and equipment related to: Airwolf, Knight Rider, Magnum PI, Charlie's Angels, The Bionic Man and spinoffs, A Man Called Sloan; and even reaching back a bit to The Man from Uncle, double ought seven, and Danger Man (AKA Secret Agent Man). As a number of these were had large Agency type involvement, NSA, CIA, Knight Industries, MI6 then a equally powerful decentralized terroristic organization such as Specter er something.

How about The 27 Club (although Holly and Valens were 22 and 17, respectively)? -- Ben
