 League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
So I've been listening to the RPPR actual play of a modern League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and it got me thinking. If you were going to play in a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen game what Era would you want it in? What limitations would you want?
I am torn between the 80s and modern. I know I would eliminate comic books as a reference point. I think that a modern game would likely focus more on TV\Movie characters than books.
What characters would you expect to see? For a Modern game a few jump out like Buffy and Harry Dresden. For the 80s the Small Wonder robot and Dr. Emmit Brown jump out at me.
What villains would be good?

A couple of years ago, Dregg was kicking around an idea for a con game based on this, but using 90s comic characters, so you'd have John Constantine, Hellboy, The Crow, etc. Don't know if he ever got to run it.

First and foremost, while I realize there is a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen RPG, if I were running the game, I'd use the World of Darkness rules. I'd set it in the modern age, and I would use the following characters:
Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Doctor from Doctor Who, Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files, Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, and Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly would lead them.
...that might be a worthy FtC5 game. I'll have to give it some thought.

 League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
That's a great question. Honestly, I'd have to put some Hong Kong action film stars in there because they exist in that beautiful place in film where they may be superhuman or transcendent but it's never discussed. People like Chow Yun-Fat's character in Hard Boiled. Analogous would be Jason Bourne.
Honestly, my favorite era would have to be the 30's pulp and use Philip Jose Farmer's Wold Newton family. Put Doc Savage, Tarzan, The Shadow and the other great heroes of the age together.

 Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Although this is very dated, and in my defense not an example of my current writing style... I wrote a LXG adventure for Savage Worlds back during the initial release. Shane H. had given me a preview PDF and I had put this together for I-CON 23 (I think). Anyway you can find this adventure here http://savageheroes.com/conversions.htmJust scroll down to find the file.

 Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Darren Watts from Hero Games runs a series of Con Games call the All Stars. Each year, he picks a theme and pulls heroes from that era or genre.
I have played in two. The first was Pulp All Stars, and the characters were Doc Savage, Tarzan, Indiana Jones, The Shadow, Mandrake the Magician and Nancy Drew (yes, Nancy Drew). I played Tarzan (which gave me some of the best GMing advice I've ever gotten.)
The other I played in (as an NPC) was Universal Studios Monsters: Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man (actually the Invisible Agent), The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Frankenstein's Monster.
Bother were amazingly cool for their depth of research and over the top fun.
I know he's run many others, but the only one that springs to mind is 80's action heroes, which had characters like Steve Austin, Knight Rider, etc.
