I still dig out my original Aeon deluxe edition, with the coil binding and plastic cover, when the urge to play some sci-fi strikes. I just found another copy of the original Aeon edition at a game store that was closing... Picked it up for a song Loved Trinity, but Abberant was my real love in that world... it was the only super hero RPG that ever made me look past Champions... But other than that we are in total agreement... Did you ever play ADVENTURE? that one was very well done as well. That whole dam universe was a full on HAT TRICK of games... Adventure! was a fantastic game. I was especially fond of the dramatic editing system. I liked the Abberant setting but I don't think it worked as well mechanically as the other two.

Re: The Big Friendly List of RPG rules with links and stuff.
The newest release from Chapter 13 Press: Spookybeans is the Gothic Comics RPG. Heavily inspired by the works of Jhonen Vasquez, Roman Dirge, Voltaire, Serena Valentino, Charles Addams, Edward Gorey, and Tim Burton, among others. Rules-light, the system is fast and loose, allows you to use any kind of dice you want, and is designed to keep all players engaged in the story, even when it's not their turn. The default setting is The Hollow, a small suburban neighborhood that happens to be a giant magnet for all kinds of supernatural weirdness. Having sprung up around a 200 year old cemetery may have had something to do with it (or perhaps it was something even older). The PDF was released on DriveThruRPG on October 31, and Chapter 13 Press is currently hard at work on the full print version, with a target date of January 2012. -- Ben

Microscope: http://www.lamemage.com/ Microscope is a game on an epic stage. You create an entire history, from the epochs down to individual scenes. Creative control is absolute in the broad sweep; scenes are the only level at which collaboration is allowed. Role-playing is very much pass-the-stick, character-focused. It's very suitable for one-shots and pickup play, as all you need is the (tiny) book, a stack of index cards, something to write with, and a table to lay it out on. States 2-5 players, best with 3-4. No GM, rotating spotlight.

Added, thanks!
Been reading through several new rules that I got since the last big update. [Added to-do item to his list.] -- TAZ

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in awhile but thanks for doing this man. This is a very cool and useful resource for the community. As a reward for your efforts I will grant you a custom title of your choice.

I see you have Cortex+ listed but none of the specific games built with it (Smallville, Leverage, Marvel Heroic). The new games are so wildly different from one another (Smallville is teen drama and super heroes, Leverage is a heist with flashbacks and recons just like the show, Marvel Heroic is Marvel heroes) that they aren't really done justice by the basic Cortex+ label.
What is your goal with the list? Does it fit with your concept of the list to include the individual games? If not, totally cool. If yes, I'll try to write synopses for you.

Actually, there is are entries for Leverage and Smallville there. Of course, if you think they need embellishment, please feel free to contribute. Nothing for the new Marvel game yet. Oh, there isn't a set goal to the list as much as a booter created info dump with links so that people can find the games that others talk about. The blurbs are geared to a little bit of what the system does and how flexible it is. Add in a couple of tags like 'free' when they apply. -- TAZ

One to add Wild Talents: Flexible superhero system based on the One Role Engine (ORE). It has numerous settings including Godlike (WW2), The Favored Land (Civil War), ECollapse (Not-quite pos-cyberpunk) and a few more traditional modern-era settings.
