 Re: Popular RPG Systems
Popular was borrowed from the previous thread's title. I'm not married to it. Also, popular for one may be non-existent for another. For example, I'm sure Epoch of Rysos and Skies of Glass have a popularity disproportionate to their distribution.
I look at the list as a central launching point for exploring other game systems, starting from the popular and expanding into the new, the obscure, and the archaic. Due to the increasing popularity of PDF publishing, even long out of print material is resurfacing. This warms my collector's heart for RPG systems. -- TAZ

 Re: Popular RPG Systems
SotC deserves its own entry. It is a substantial innovation, from my understanding. I havent played it though, so someone else should write the description.

 Re: Popular RPG Systems
Nah, SotC is pretty much just Fate 3. That said, it does deserve its own entry, so I'll include it among the others I'm listing.
Spirit of the Century: The original Fate 3 game built for pulp adventures. Features a long and fairly detailed skill list, sub rules of fires and explosions, and introduces aspects as a complete replacement for modifiers. It also marks the beginning of the stunt system, featuring a list of specific stunts.
Pendragon: The Arthurian Myth RPG, Pendragon follows varying characters over decades as the events of the Arthurian Myths unfurl in the background.
Blood Sweat and Steel: A Sword and Sorcery variant of Fate, with heavy Fudge overtones. Uses Aspects, Stunts and Modifiers, and is calibrated for violent amoral characters working off their wits.

 Re: Popular RPG Systems
Pendragon may need to be rewritten. I have a very limited knowledge of it, and while the prose actually sounds decent (the other two suck and do need to be rewritten), I might have errored somewhere i9n the description.

Added some more info and a link for Pendragon. Does that work for you? -- TAZ
