Post What do you plan on running at GenCon?
Out of curiosity (and so we know what to look out for), what do you plan on running at GenCon?

I'm hoping to host a game of Fiasco as well as Diplomacy. I might also get off my butt and write this Savage Worlds adventure in homage to Dethklok.

I'm only running one game at Gen Con; an off-grid game of Paranoia, 2nd edition. It's the fourth year straight I've run such a game. This year's game: Killer Robots from AFU Sector. It should be a lot of fun; I ran it twice at Gary Con II and I think it's my best effort yet at getting the party at each others throats quickly. :)

Unfortunately, talking about it here is just a tease; it's already full...unless I have no-shows.

I was totally bummed that there were only a few Paranoia sessions the whole weekend and they were all full. :( That and the Car Wars games too. :(

It seems like all the best games were only being run 4 times over the course of the weekend... Meanwhile "Tower of Gygax" is running several thousand times the whole week. Seriously - how many trap-laden dungeon grinds do we need at the con? We need more variety.

JediSoth - Would you consider adding an "off the books" session for booters? :)

Edit: Holy $#!7. In the time I was writing this post, I found another recently added Car Wars event, which sold out the minute I tried to add the tickets to my cart. @$%#$%!!!

I've never played Paranoia despite owning the rulebook (from an edition I can't recall) for over 12 years now. I'll probably play it if it's ran.

Actually, I would like to play Paranoia as well. I have always heard how much fun it is, but have never gotten a chance to play.

I am ALWAYS open to trying new games and for me almost every RPG is new.

There's two ways to play Paranoia: Serious, and Fun.

If you play it serious, it rivals any other game in terms of encouraging subtle diplomacy and magnificent bastardry.

If you play it fun, it's like living in a cross between Fallout and Bugs Bunny.

There are varying degrees of gray between those two extremes, but I love playing it either scarily straight, or wackily subverted. Relatedly, I think everyone should try it both ways just to say they have.

I'll consider a second session of it. I don't know if I'll have time; my schedule is stupid-full already:
Wednesday afternooon: ENnies Booth set-up
Wednesday night: off-grid Shadowrun game
Thursday morning: free time
Thursday afternoon: back-to-back writing seminars
Thursday evening: Mutants & Masterminds game (Mecha & Manga)
Friday morning: Eclipse Phase
Friday afternoon: A Ptolus (D&D 3.x) game
Friday evening: The ENnie Awards
Saturday morning: mini painting seminar
Saturday afternoon: Writing seminar, followed by back to back games of Paranoia and Arcana Evolved
Saturday evening: A dinner I host for members of the OK--Your Turn community
Sunday morning: ENnies submission solicitation
Sunday afternoon: an Icons game followed by ENnies booth tear-down

So, Thursday morning will be a possibility. I have to make sure I leave enough time in between events to help my wife get around (she's disabled). I also want shopping time. There's money that needs spending. :p

Holy smokes! Well, don't worry about it then. I would feel totally guilty if I convinced you to use up your only free-range time at the con all weekend. :)

That and I'm not sure I can do Thursday morning.

You can always look for my Paranoia game Saturday afternoon (it starts at 2PM). It'll probably be in the Hyatt open gaming area. I may have open seats; I may have extra characters.
