MonkeyCon One (October 19-20 via Skype)
Monkey Con is a free virtual game convention held over Skype each October (about a week or so before Halloween.) New players and GMs always welcome it's really a good excuse to get together and play some of your favorites, try out new games, or even find some play testers if you've got that game design that needs a few victims. -- TAZ [activities updated]

Thanks! I appreciate the enthusiasm. The nice thing about a virtual con like MonkeyCon is that you can continue to add games and players without running out of floor space (or getting swamped by crowd noise.) I hope to see a lot of recordings from this to share with folks that can't make it to every game. -- TAZ

How does the skyping actually work? Does conplanner give you our skype handles?

No, that's something that the players and the GMs/hosts need to coordinate by either posting the info in the activity description or more commonly by post something on the MTMJ forums. It's a very ad hoc thing. Worst case scenario I play match maker/coordinator in the chat room. But, now that you say it, that would be a good thing to remind the activity hosts about. -- TAZ

And as long as it stays that way I'll be in the clear... Yeah Monkey con needs an easier way to match people up, though I wouldn't know what to suggest. Also I had an idea. As I made my way around the rpg community spreading the word of the monkey, I got some negative feedback. Mostly that Monkey con is missing the point of a con, because a con is supposed to be real people gathering in person. (Personally I disagree.) But that got me thinking... what if monkeycon had a virtual meet up place. Like perhaps an entire convention center built in I don't know MINECRAFT!? It's an impractical idea that I don't think would go over well for a number of reasons (one being that not everyone has the game), but I cant stop smiling about an entire Con happening in minecraft.

If I were to do that, I'd put a layer of TNT under the convention center and end the Con with a bang. -- TAZ

Re: MonkeyCon One (October 19-20 via Skype)
I was, up until this morning, that is, going to be available for at least one of the two days of MonkeyCon. Alas, despite my secret hoping to remain unbooked (it must remain secret, as my wife prefers me to earn money, and disdains my desires to game instead,) I will not be able to take part.
Rock it out and have a great time!
